And when stress takes over, even for those who appear to have the calmest center, it can be a chore to find your zen again. The emotional demand of stress can build up over time, but if you learn to silence the outside world, if you find an unshakable peace, you’ll find a way to return to your happy place, no matter what. Keeping this view in mind, Somerville School, Greater NOIDA organized a workshop on STRESS MANAGEMENT for the students of classes X and XII on 10th December 2019. The aim of the workshop was to help the students combat stress as they are more prone to anxiety due to the pressure of Board Examinations. The Resource Person, Dr. Richa Sharma, Associate Professor from IIMT Group of Colleges enlightened the students and made them understand the difference between good stress and bad stress. It is generally accepted that a small amount of stress can help you to function effectively. It adds a sense of urgency to whatever you are doing and helps to provide motivation. However, when most people talk about stress, they mean 'too much stress' which needs to be managed. The students were advised to jot down the situations which cause stress in their lives and be prepared for the worst outcome in advance. They learned effective time management skills through which stress can be controlled and was advised to keep themselves away from modern gadgets which simply waste their time and bring in unnecessary anxiety. The resource person also presented the students with a diary and a pen as a gesture of wishing them good luck for their upcoming Board Exams. The workshop was a rewarding and enriching experience for the students.
