Description: Somerville School Greater NOIDA celebrated the birth anniversary of one the greatest leaders of our freedom movement Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel- ‘Iron Man of India’ on October 31, 2022. Patel’s contribution to nation building and integration of states is remarkable and has given the current federal structure of our country. The school commemorated the day by drawing attention to the values and principles of Vallabhbhai Patel with great zeal and enthusiasm. Students and staff under the guidance of Principal Dr. Mary Thomas organized several activities to celebrate the impeccable life of our very first Deputy Prime Minister of India. A Special Assembly on Patel’s exceptional life and the noteworthy contribution in laying the foundation of a democratic structure of India was held. The assembly began with a speech focusing on his early career, his life as a lawyer and leader of the national movement of India during the colonial era. Students were encouraged to inculcate the values of integrity honesty and unity which Vallabhbhai Patel upheld throughout his life. This was followed by a pledge taking ceremony on Unity led by our Principal Dr. Mary Thomas. The assembly concluded with a Unity Run wherein the school organized a half marathon around the residential complex near the school campus. This year Somerville School Greater NOIDA became an integral part of the nationwide event with 750000 people and 7500 districts of the country. The school also organized class activities. Senior students of Class XI and XII spoke on life and contribution of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel and touched upon the aspects that inspire them.
