Description: Colin Powell once said “Great leaders are almost always great simplifiers, who can cut through an argument, debate and doubt, to offer a solution everybody can understand.” On 10th August 2023, a Debate Competition was organized for budding public speakers by the Debate Club–Eloquent Orators under the able guidance of Principal Ma’am, Dr. Mary Thomas. The competition facilitated holistic development of students by honing communication skills, fostering creative thinking, public speaking, teamwork, and problem-solving abilities which is incredibly valuable as they navigate both their academic and professional lives later. The motion under fire for Category 1-Classes 6 to 8 was- ‘Peer pressure is a boon’ while for Category 2-Classes 9 to 12 it was- ‘The world would be a better place if people relied more on rationality than feelings’. There were some great arguments put forward by all the debaters. The rebuttal round was also much appreciated by one and all present. The programme concluded with wise words of wisdom shared by the judges.
