With an illustrious teaching career spanning more than 32 years, Dr. Mary Thomas, joined the Somerville family as the Head Mistress of Somerville School, Greater NOIDA in April, 2006 and thereafter took charge as Principal of the school in April, 2008.

Being from an Air Force background, Dr. Mary Thomas, travelled extensively in India during her school years, studying in various schools from Apostolic Carmel Convent Schools and Central Schools. She says, that travelling during school days, has helped her be an instant-adjuster to challenging situations and rising above the occasion. She is an alumnus of The Air Force School, Subroto Park, New Delhi.

She went on to complete her Bachelors in Science from Delhi University and her Bachelors in Education from Bangalore University thus embarking on her teaching career as a Science and Mathematics teacher in Kerala Education Society Senior Secondary School, Canning Road, New Delhi. It was during her teaching stint at Kerala Education Society Senior Secondary School, that she completed her Masters in Economics and her Masters in Education. She has also completed her Post Graduate Diploma in Education Leadership (PGDEL), from Centre for Education Management and Development (CEMD), a course she says, that spearheaded her career into the managerial side of education, thus equipping her to shift effortlessly from the teaching side to a managerial one.

Her quest for excellence led her to join as the Principal of St. Thomas School, Indirapuram in 2003 and after a short stint as Principal, left the school to join as a Delhi University Lecturer at Jesus and Mary College , New Delhi, in the B.El.Ed. (Bachelor in Elementary Education Department). It was here that she began her Doctorate in Education, completing it in 2010 whilst serving as Principal of Somerville School, Greater NOIDA.

Dr. Mary Thomas, an epitome of dedication and commitment, focuses on the Holistic development of her students. As a great motivator, she believes in raising the students into capable and effective individuals with touchstones of warmth, respect, trust and responsibility. Taking initiative to conduct workshops on “Cultivating Character”, she has ensured that students are not only academically inclined, but also well equipped to face the world as an all-rounded individual. Living with her motto of life ‘Compete with Self’, Dr. Mary Thomas lays great emphasis and thrust on Creativity and Innovation in Education in order to harness the latent potential of each stakeholder of the school.

Her endeavour to make the school a true temple of learning and a Premier Education Institution of the Country reinforces her belief in working cohesively with ‘one and all’.

Monisha Roy Claudius joined took charge as the new Vice-Principal of the Somerville School, Greater NOIDA on 2nd April 2012. Earlier she had joined in the capacity of the Vice-Principal of Somerville School, NOIDA on 1st April 2008. Prior to joining the NOIDA branch she was the Senior English Teacher and House Mistress of Bradbury House in All Saints’ College an old and renowned residential school of Nainital started in 1869.

She worked in Metropolitan school, Gorakhpur as the Senior English Teacher before joining All Saints’ College. She taught English to ISC and ICSE students in both these schools. The result of the students in her subject had been excellent. She also organized excursions and trained the students for inter and intra school debates, declamation and plays.

She had her schooling from All Saints’ College, Nainital. She did her Honours in English from Sophia College, Ajmer. She chose to take up teaching as her profession soon after completing her Masters in English from Deen Dayal University, Gorakhpur. She has enjoyed working as a teacher and has no regret in taking up this profession.

She enjoys reading books and learning about different cultures. She loves working with young children and helping them to understand the true meaning of education in order to become good and responsible citizens of the country. She has guided her students to gain self confidence and acquire a sense of responsibility towards society. She personally believes that self discipline is very important for every individual as it helps a person to become confident and responsible.

Mrs. Shefali Kiran Egbert has been associated with Somerville Schools for the past 18 years. She started her career in Somerville School in Daryaganj as a primary teacher. She did her practice teaching for B.Ed. at Somerville School, NOIDA. She was appointed as T.G.T Geography in 1997 at Somerville School, Vasundhara Enclave, Delhi.

She became the Headmistress in 2006 of the same branch. In the month of March 2009, she joined as the Headmistress of Somerville School, Greater NOIDA.

Mrs. Shefali Kiran Egbert has done her graduation from Miranda House and pursued her post graduation from Delhi School of Economics, University of Delhi. She completed B.Ed. and M.Ed. from Annamalai University, along with an advance course from Center for Education Management Development (CEMD) and Disaster Management from IGNOU.

She hails from a family of academic professionals. She feels privileged to be in this noble profession and spares no opportunity in shaping young minds towards a bright future. In her endeavour she is supported by experienced Management and qualified team of Teachers.
